Ficus benjamina, commonly known as the Weeping Fig, is a species of flowering plant in the family Moraceae, native to South and Southeast Asia and Australia. It is a popular houseplant in temperate regions, due to its elegant growth and shiny green leaves which may have a slight yellow tint. The plant is also known for its braided trunk styles in cultivated forms. Ficus benjamina grows well indoors and requires a bit of care to thrive. It usually reaches up to 3 meters indoors but can grow much taller outside. The plant is sensitive to environmental changes, which can cause leaf drop.

How to care for Weeping Fig
Water
Water the weeping fig when the top inch of soil becomes dry. Ensure thorough watering that reaches the deep roots, but let the soil dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. Use room temperature water to avoid shocking the plant's roots.
Light
Provide bright, indirect sunlight for optimal growth. Direct afternoon sun may scorch the leaves, while too little light can cause sparse foliage and poor growth. East or west-facing windows are usually ideal.
Nutrients
Feed Ficus benjamina with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every month during the growing seasons of spring and summer. Reduce feeding to once every two months during the fall and do not fertilize in the winter. Over-fertilizing can lead to salt build-up and burn the roots, so ensure to follow the specified amounts.
Temperature
Ficus benjamina prefers temperatures between 16-24°C (60-75°F). Avoid exposure to sudden temperature changes and drafts, as this can stress the plant and cause leaf drop. Keep away from heat sources like radiators.
