Zantedeschia aethiopica, commonly known as Calla Lily or Arum Lily, is a graceful perennial plant native to southern Africa. It features large, arrow-shaped, glossy green leaves and is renowned for its striking, trumpet-shaped flowers, which are actually spathes surrounding a yellow finger-like spadix. The spathes are usually white but can also be found in shades of green. This plant typically reaches a height of 0.6 to 1 meter and blooms from spring to early summer. It thrives in wet environments and is often found on the edges of ponds and marshes, where it can be seen emerging directly from shallow waters.

How to care for Calla Lily
Water
Keep the soil consistently moist during the active growing season (spring and summer). Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Reduce watering in the dormant period (fall and winter) to prevent the tubers from rotting.
Light
Calla Lilies prefer bright, indirect light or partial shade. Excessive direct sunlight can cause leaf burns, while too little light will lead to poor flowering.
Nutrients
Feed Zantedeschia aethiopica with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season. Reduce feeding to once a month in the winter. Avoid over-fertilization which can lead to poor bloom performance and leaf burn.
Temperature
Preferably maintain temperatures between 50°F and 75°F (10°C to 24°C). This plant is not frost-hardy and should be protected from temperatures below freezing. In colder climates, consider growing in containers that can be moved indoors during winter.
