How to care for Chinese Money Plant
Water
Water the Pilea peperomioides moderately and allow the top inch of the soil to dry out between waterings. During winter, reduce watering to minimize the risk of root rot and adjust according to the humidity levels of your home to avoid drying out too quickly. Overwatering is a common issue with this plant, so ensure proper drainage.
Light
Pilea peperomioides prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate medium light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, especially during harsh midday, as it can scorch the leaves. A north or east-facing window is ideal.
Nutrients
Feed Pilea peperomioides with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer every 2-4 weeks during the growing season. Reduce feeding to once every month during the winter when the plant's growth naturally slows down. Do not over-fertilize as this can cause the leaves to lose their bright green hue.
Temperature
The ideal temperature range for the Pilea peperomioides is between 18°C to 25°C (64°F to 77°F). Avoid sudden temperature drops and cold drafts, as well as direct exposure to strong heat sources such as radiators, which can cause stress to the plant.
