Philodendron hederaceum, commonly known as the Heartleaf Philodendron, is a popular houseplant favored for its attractive, glossy, heart-shaped leaves. It's a trailing or climbing type of philodendron, making it an excellent choice for hanging baskets or as a climbing plant with some support. Originating from the tropical forests of Central America and the Caribbean, this plant is extremely adaptable and thrives in a variety of indoor environments. How to care for Heartleaf Philodendron
Water
Water the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry, usually about once a week. Avoid overwatering by ensuring the pot has proper drainage. During winter, reduce watering frequency as the plant's growth slows down.
Light
Place the Philodendron hederaceum in bright, indirect sunlight. It can tolerate low light conditions, which makes it suitable for locations away from windows, but growth may slow.
Nutrients
Fertilize the Philodendron hederaceum monthly during the spring and summer with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half the recommended strength. Reduce feeding to every six to eight weeks during the fall and winter months.
Temperature
Keep the plant in a temperature range of 65-78°F (18-25°C). It can tolerate a minimum of 60°F (15°C), but avoid sudden temperature drops and cold drafts which can stress the plant.
